Sin, Lie, Murder T-Shirt OK'd

A federal judge in Ohio has ruled that James Nixon, a student at Sheridan Middle School in Thornville, can wear a T-Shirt displaying what the Agape Press news story describes as a Christian message:

Homosexuality is sin.
Islam is a lie.
Abortion is murder.

While the front of the shirt does indeed display John 14:6: "Jesus said, 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.'", it's the more inflammatory message on the back of the shirt which caused concern among staff at the school, who told Mr. Nixon he could not wear the shirt. He sued, contending a violation of his civil liberties. Judge George Smith agreed.

The decision may have widespread implications regarding school dress codes which limit the expression of controversial viewpoints.
