Cop Beats Journalist at Polls

James S. Henry is a widely published freelance journalist. In that capacity, he was taking photographs of people waiting in line at the polls in Palm Beach County, Fla. Deputy Al Cinque tried to grab Mr. Henry's camera, at which point Mr. Henry ran away. Deputy Cinque caught and tackled him, punching the journalist in the back and elsewhere. When asked why the photographer was being arrested, the Deputy replied "You're not allowed to take pictures of voters."

In a day which promises many memorable quotes, Sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller started it off with "We're not going to let anyone interfere with the orderly conduct of the elections process here".
